On November 18, 2023 Bill Chapman, Tyrosys CEO, was rushed to the hospital suffering from seizures, which resulted in finding he has advanced terminal brain, lung, and abdomen cancer.
After a week in the hospital in Round Rock, he was released and then referred to MD Anderson Oncology in Houston, Texas as an outpatient for treatment options. He is currently undergoing oncology treatment to improve his quality and duration of life.
As a family owned and operated business, we worked very hard throughout December to make sure every customer was taken care of and all repairs completed. As of Dec 31, 2023 we stopped accepting any new orders.
Importantly, every completed and repaired unit was returned to all customers.
Grant is trying very hard to work with Apple after starting a new company that he can transfer his earned Apple Authorized Service Provider accreditation to. Unfortunately it is a very long and complicated process, so we greatly appreciate your patience.
In the meanwhile you'll have to look at our competitors on the Apple Service Locator Map within the Apple Service iOS App, or online at locate.apple.com.
I really wish it was that simple - but without airing dirty laundry, very important corporate paperwork was not handled properly by Bill before he got sick.
Rest assured Grant tried his hardest working with several lawyers and forensic accountants over the winter to resolve the issues, however they are completely insurmountable as Bill created. Devastatingly the only option was to close and dissolve Tyrosys, and then for Grant to start over.
The biggest parable and cautionary tale out of all this is for small businesses, and especially family owned ones, to be sure to have a clear written succession plan and updated Will executed and in place BEFORE tragedy happens.
We have appreciated building relationships with many of our Austin area customers over the last 16 years, and as a company we've enjoyed serving since 2002.
Some of our longest term customers have given the encouragement to persevere through this life valley. It is surreal and heartbreaking to me that this is how it ends with our Tyrosys brand after 21 years, but Grant is going to work very hard rebuild elsewhere.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve!
Tyrosys Corp operated from 2002 until 2023 and is permanently closed now.
